Abderrahmane Baddou

Abderrahmane Baddou ( Arabic السيد عبد الرحمان بادو; * 1925 in Meknes ) is a retired Moroccan diplomat and State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He is the father of the politician Yasmina Baddou , as well as the paternal uncle of the television presenter Ali Baddou.

Career

He studied law at the Institut des Hautes Études marocaines in Rabat , was an active member of the Nationalist Movement, took part in meetings demanding independence in 1944, and was excluded from Moroccan educational institutions by the French protectorate regime. In 1952 he was imprisoned for political reasons. Subsequently he was an active member of the Istiqlal Executive Committee . Until 1963 he took on leading positions in the Ministry of Justice. In 1963 he was elected to the Moroccan Assembly of Representatives for Meknes . From 1965 he was employed again in the Ministry of Justice.

From October 23, 1967 to 1971, he was ambassador to Jeddah , Saudi Arabia. In 1971 he was ambassador to Beirut (Lebanon). From 1972 to 1975 he was ambassador to Jeddah a second time.

From October 10, 1977 to March 27, 1979 he was State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ahmed Osman's cabinet . From March 27, 1979 to October 5, 1981 he was State Secretary in the Foreign Ministry in Maati Bouabid's cabinet .

In 1981 Morocco opened an embassy in Vienna. From June 8, 1982 to November 30, 1984 he was the first Moroccan ambassador to the second Austrian republic in Vienna and permanent representative of the Moroccan government to the International Atomic Energy Agency .
