Abdol-Hossein Sadiq-Esfandiari ( Persian عبدالحسین صدیق اسفندیاری; * 1896 in Sāri ) was an Iranian diplomat .

Career

He studied and received his doctorate in public administration from the Université catholique de Louvain . In 1917 he joined the foreign service. From 1923 to 1926 he was Vice Consul of Astrakhan (USSR) and legation secretary at the consulate in Baku (Soviet Azarbayan). From 1926 to 1931 he was the first class secretary of the embassy in Brussels . In 1933 he was a delegation counselor in Kabul . From 1934 to 1936 he was Consul General in Karachi . In 1936 he was first class secretary of the embassy in Bern . In 1939 he was chief of protocol. In 1940 he was employed on the third in the second department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1941 he was a delegation counselor in Kabul. In 1943 he became the head of the economic department of the Foreign Ministry. From 1948 to 1951 he was Consul General in Jerusalem . From 1951 to 1953 he was Ministre plénipotentiaire in Jeddah ( Saudi Arabia ). From 1959 to 1961 he was Ministre plénipotentiaire in Jakarta , ( Indonesia ). He spoke French and Russian and toured most of the countries in Europe and the Middle East. From February 16 to September 20, 1962 he was ambassador to Bangkok .
