Abdou Sidikou

Abdou Sidikou (* 1927 in Kouré ; † July 26, 1973 ) was a Nigerien politician and diplomat . From 1967 to 1970 he was State Secretary for Foreign Affairs.

Life

Abdou Sidikou attended the regional school in Niamey , where he was a student of the later Nigerien President Hamani Diori in 1936 . He continued his education at the École normal William Ponty near Dakar . He then studied at the medical faculties of Dakar and Paris , where he graduated in 1956. From 1956 to 1957 he completed an internship at the Hôpitaux de la Seine and specialized in serology , biology and bacteriology . Sidikou returned to Niger in 1957, where he worked as chief pharmacist at Niamey National Hospital until 1959 . He was also head of the canton in his hometown of Kouré.

Under Prime Minister Hamani Diori, Abdou Sidikou became cabinet director of Minister of Health Boubacar Diallo in 1959 . In 1962, in independent Niger, he was appointed Ambassador to the United States , the United Nations and Canada, succeeding Issoufou Saïdou Djermakoye . In September he moved to Belgium as ambassador . He was also accredited as ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany , Austria and the European Economic Community . Sidikou returned to his home country in November 1965 to work as Secretary General in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which was headed by President Hamani Diori himself. He also worked as a state inspector for pharmacies. On April 14, 1967, Abdou Sidikou was promoted to State Secretary for Foreign Affairs . Health problems led to his being removed from his position as State Secretary for Foreign Affairs in January 1970 and instead appointed to a State Secretary assigned to the Presidential Chancellery.
