Abdul Amu

Abdul Amu ( Abdul Karim Ohimai Amu ; born November 13, 1933 in Lagos ; † February 9, 2010 ibid) was a Nigerian sprinter .

In 1954 he won silver at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Vancouver with the Nigerian 4-by-110-yard relay. Over 220 yards he reached the semifinals, over 100 yards he was eliminated in the preliminary run.

At the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 he failed over 400 m and in the 4 x 100 meter relay in the first round. Four years later he reached over 400 m at the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960 and the semi-finals with the Nigerian 4 x 100 meter relay. At the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964 he was part of the Nigerian 4 x 100 meter relay, which was eliminated in the semi-finals.

After his active career, he was long-time chairman of the Nigerian Athletics Association.
