Abdul Majid

Abdul Majid ( Pashtun عبد مجید Abd Majid ; * July 14, 1914 ) was an Afghan diplomat and politician .

Life

Abdul Majid was a son of Abdul Majid Zabuli and studied at the University of Kabul and the University of California . From 1940 to 1946 he was director of the Institute for Bacteriology and Hygiene in Kabul. In 1946 he was dean of the University of Kabul. He headed the Afghan delegation to the Asian Relations Conference on August 15, 1947 in New Delhi . From October 14, 1950 to 1963 he was Minister of Education. From 1963 to October 25, 1965, he was Ambassador to Washington, DC From October 25, 1965 to February 12, 1967, he was Secretary of Health. From February 12, 1967 to 1972, he was Ambassador to the Court of St James’s . From August 5, 1973 to March 13, 1977 he was Minister of Justice. From March 13, 1977 to November 7, 1977 he was minister with no portfolio. On November 7, 1977 Mohammed Daoud Khan appointed him a member of the State Council.
