Abe Goldstein

Abe Goldstein (* 10. September 1898 in New York City ; † 12. February 1977 ) was an American boxer in the bantamweight .

Professional career

In 1916, Goldstein began his career at a young age and suffered only one defeat in the first 40 fights. In 1921 he made his first attempt to win a title, but lost to Johnny Buff in the second round by knockout. Another 19 victories followed before Johnny Sheppard could defeat him in ten rounds. More failed attempts at the title followed. On October 19, 1923 Goldstein boxed against Joe Burman for the NYSAC World Championship and won by unanimous decision. On March 21 of the following year, the universal world champion belt was added with a points win against Joe Lynch . On December 19, 1924 he lost both titles to Eddie Martin by split point decision.

In 1927 Goldstein, who belonged to Judaism, ended his career.
