Gas is a Swiss punk and artist group .

history

Gas was founded by Gary SinNLos (aka. Gary Odd) and Thommy Abschreck in Kreuzlingen at the end of 1980 . Thomas Leuch was the band's first bass player until the spring of 1981 . All three band members played musical instruments for the first time on the founding day . After seven days the place on New Year's Eve 1980 debut - concert in the Jägerkaserne in Konstanz instead of seven self-composed songs. In early 1981 her cassette was released under the title exhaust - Greatest Hits . There were ten songs on side A, while side B consisted of a live recording . The distribution was done by her own label danger zone records. Gas also appeared on the Kampf + Unrecht cassette sampler , which was mainly distributed in Germany . In the spring of 1981 Bobo Ramöne joined the band as the new bass player. Their untitled double EP with 14 songs such as Münsterlinge , Die Welt ist tot und Kleines Mädchen was self-distributed. Dozens of concerts both in Switzerland and in southern Germany followed. Stefan Tatendurst (aka Spätheimkehrer) served as a temporary help at concerts when Ramöne was absent. He replaced him shortly afterwards.

Further concerts in Switzerland and a tour through Italy followed in the following year . Various live recordings were released on the tape label Schizoid-Records (Bern). On August 1st, Switzerland's national holiday , exhaust produced and distributed the Swiss anti-sampler with 17 bands from the Swiss punk scene.

From 1983 the band stopped playing earlier songs. A new sound was created with songs without names or lyrics. Stage sets were created and from then on the band played naked and only painted with finger paint. Dozens of concerts were played in some larger halls like the Rote Fabrik . The stage show became more and more spectacular. A live recording on June 1st with two shows was self-published as a cassette .

In the next two years the music repertoire was expanded again. The cassette And I Wait (self-published) made it into the LP charts of the Tagesanzeiger , which was created by Musicland, shortly after it was released. A few more concerts followed on Swiss soil before the band members fully occupied themselves with their own art .

24 years later, exhaust gas was back in the rehearsal room and worked on new songs, which were presented live in August 2011. The previously unreleased song The Storm and rare video versions of Schwarze Fahnen and ABGAS City Rulers were also released .
