Abraham Darby II

Abraham Darby (born March 12, 1711 in Coalbrookdale ; † March 31, 1763 there ; called Abraham Darby II ) was an English iron manufacturer and inventor . He is the son of Abraham Darby I .

Life

Abraham Darby II belonged to an English Quaker family who decisively developed metallurgy and iron refining in England in the 17th and 18th centuries . Abraham Darby took over his father's ironworks in 1730. Abraham Darby II is one of the major inventors, as he 1735 charcoal by coke , similar to the charcoal in kilns was recovered replaced. His son, Abraham Darby III (1750–1791), successfully continued the family business.
