Abraham Klesel (born November 7, 1636 in Fraustadt , † April 13, 1702 in Jauer ) was a German Lutheran clergyman and hymn poet .

life and work

KLESEL, son of exiled preacher Paul KLESEL, studied at the University of Konigsberg first law , then Protestant theology . From 1660 he was pastor in Ulbersdorf , moved to other places and finally to Jauer, where he passed away on April 13, 1702 at the age of 65.

Klesel composed several sacred songs, some of which he published in his collection of forget-me-nots . His Easter song Jesus has risen, rejoice , Easter heart has entered the hymn book of the city of Wroclaw , his Palm Sunday song " soul make you holy," accompanying Jesus has also been included in hymn books.
