Abraham Muhl

Abraham Muhl (born August 8, 1686 in Amsterdam , † August 5 in Danzig ) was a German long-distance merchant in Danzig.

Life

Grandfather Jacob Muhl had emigrated to Hamburg as a merchant from Salzwedel in the Altmark region. The father Jacob then settled in Amsterdam, where he married Cäcilia Damcke. The boy probably grew up in Amsterdam.

In 1712 he received the citizenship of Danzig as a long-distance merchant, shipowner and wine merchant wholesale and cheaply because he came from a Hanseatic city ( Hänserich ). In the same year he got married there. Business with his brothers in Amsterdam is recorded from 1715.

Abraham Muhl owned the house at Tischlergasse 76 in Danzig, since 1729 a house at Langgasse 43. He also had properties in Brunau, Worle, Tiegenort and Kowall near Danzig.

Abraham Muhl was married to Constantia Mulhem called Hagedorn. Children were

  • Jacob Muhl (1713-1735)
  • Abraham Muhl (1714–1781), a merchant in Danzig, inherited his father's fortune
  • Johannes Muhl (1718–1767), head of the hospital in Danzig
  • Esther Muhl (1719–1778), wife of Gottlieb Gabriel Weickmann , Mayor of Danzig
  • Constantia Muhl (* 1723)
  • Ernst Muhl (1728–1766)
  • Friedrich Muhl (1732–1797), remote merchant and councilor in Danzig
