Abraham Vita de Cologna
Abraham Vita de Cologna (born September 25, 1755 in Mantua , † March 24, 1832 in Trieste ) was an Italian rabbi .
Life
His father Samuel was head of the Jews of Mantua from 1758 to 1788. Abraham received a Jewish education and became a rabbi of Mantua. As such, he became a member of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Italy created by Napoleon I and in 1806 a member of the Notable Assembly in Paris . After the installation of the Grand Sanhédrin in 1807, he became its vice-president. In 1808 he became a member of the Consistoire central , of which he was president from 1812 to 1826. As such, he was the second Grand Rabbi of France after David Sinzheim . From 1808 to 1814 he was also rabbi of the Consistoire Turin . In 1826 he resigned his office and retired to Trieste.
