Abraham Waligo

Abraham Nkalubo Waligo ( July 28, 1928 - March 6, 2000 ) was a Ugandan politician .

Waligo studied electrical engineering in South Africa and Great Britain and was the first electrical engineer in East and Central Africa after graduating in 1955. After two years of professional training in various electricity companies in Great Britain, he returned to his home country in 1957 and was promoted to chief engineer of the Electricity Authority (UEB). In 1969 Waligo founded an engineering office. In addition, he was involved in the engineering association and in the field of higher education for engineers. Later he also worked as the general manager of Uganda Airlines.

During his later political career, Waligo was Minister for Housing and Urban Development and Minister of Finance.

Waligo was Prime Minister from August 25, 1985 to January 26, 1986 as the successor to former President Paulo Muwanga, who had only been Prime Minister for 24 days . In January 1986 he was followed by Samson Kisekka . During his tenure as Prime Minister he continued to hold the office of Finance Minister.
