Apolo Nsibambi (born October 25, 1940 - May 28, 2019 ) was a Ugandan politician . He was Prime Minister of Uganda from 1999 to 2011 .

Life

Before becoming a minister, he was director of the Institute of Social Research at Makerere University . Nsibambi was Minister of Information from 1996 to 1998, then Minister of Education from May 1998 to April 1999 and since April 5, 1999 Prime Minister of Uganda. On May 24, 2011 he was succeeded by the previous Minister of Defense, Amama Mbabazi .
