Warm-up area

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term warm-up area is a widespread, but not used in the LPO term for the preparation area for equestrian competitions . It is a demarcated area on which the tournament participants ride their horses, i.e. prepare for the start.

At least two jumping obstacles are set up on the warm-up area for jumping competitions , a steep jump and an oxer . Contrary to popular belief, the height and depth of the test jumps must not be changed. The dimensions correspond to the requirements in the class to be ridden.

The warm-up area must have a minimum size of 40 × 60/80 m outdoors and 20 × 40 m in the hall. When jumping and dressage competitions are held in parallel, a separate preparation area must be designated for each discipline. A judge must be present at the preparation area, who ensures that the riders treat each other and their horses correctly and who monitors the correct equipment.

For the work of the horses in the preparation area, in some cases different regulations apply to the equipment of rider and horse than in the test. So gaiters , bandages, etc. are permitted on the preparation area at all times . In jumping competitions it is also allowed to ride with draw reins , but it is not allowed to jump with draw reins.

At championships, participating horses may only be worked on by the participating rider on the preparation area.
