Absal Abajuly Aschghalijew (also Äschghalijew , Kazakh Абзал Абайұлы Ажғалиев / Әжғалиев , Russian Абзал Абаевич / Абайулы Ажгалиев Absal Abajewitsch / Abajuly Aschgalijew ; * the 30th June 1992 in Oral ) is a Kazakh Shorttracker .

Career

Ashghaliyev made his debut in Beijing in September 2009 in the Short Track World Cup and finished 55th in the 1500 m. In early February 2011, he won the bronze medal with the relay at the Winter Asian Games in Astana . At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , he took fifth place with the relay. At the beginning of the 2016/17 season in Calgary he came in eighth and four in each over 500 m for the first time under the top ten in the individual World Cup. At the following World Cup in Salt Lake City , he won his first world cup over 500 m. He was also there third with the relay. In the further course of the season he achieved five top ten placements, including third place in the relay and second place over 500 m in Minsk , second place in the World Cup over 500 m. At the 2017 Winter Universiade in Almaty , he won the bronze medal with the relay and the silver medal over 500 m. In March 2017 he finished sixth with the relay at the Short Track World Championships in Rotterdam . At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he achieved ninth place over 500 m and eighth place in the relay. In the 2018/19 season he reached third place over 500 m in Almaty and second place over 500 m in Calgary, eighth place in the World Cup over 500 m. The following season he was in Salt Lake City and in Dordrecht third over 500 m and finished third overall.
