The Abulug ( eng .: Abulug River ) is a river that mostly flows in the Apayao Province , in the Philippines . At its upper reaches it is also known under the name Apayao. It rises in the Cordillera Central mountains near Mount Magna, in the northwest of the Apayao province. The river flows into the Luzon Strait near the municipality of the same name, Abulug . The Abulug has a length of 175 km and a water catchment area of 3362 km². Its catchment area is limited to the east by the Cagayan and to the northwest by the Pamplona River.

From its source, near the municipality of Calanasan , the Abulug flows in a south-easterly direction in a narrow river valley, and changes its direction of flow near the municipality of Kabugao from southeast to northeast and tends towards the sea. The Abulug river valley is considered to be extremely wide at its lower reaches. Its main tributary is the Tauit, which rises from Mount Bagucan. The Tabgayagan tributary rises in the southwest and the Nagar drains the area of ​​the Pudtol and Luna communities .

Smaller tributaries are the Sicapao, Dogata, Malabang and Nagbayugan, which arise from the southern water catchment area.
