Achille Marie Joseph Glorieux
Achille Marie Joseph Glorieux (born April 2, 1910 in Roubaix , † September 27, 1999 in Lille ) was a French clergyman , Roman Catholic archbishop and diplomat of the Holy See .
Life
The Archbishop of Paris , Jean Cardinal Verdier PSS , consecrated him in the Paris church Saint-Sulpice on December 23, 1933 as a deacon and on June 29, 1934 as a priest of the diocese of Lille .
Pope Paul VI appointed him secretary of the Pontifical Council for the Laity in 1966 . On September 19, 1969, the Pope appointed him Titular Archbishop of Beverlacum and Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Syria . He was ordained bishop by Cardinal Secretary of State Jean-Marie Villot on November 9 of the same year in Santissima Trinità dei Monti ; Co- consecrators were the Vice-President of the Pontifical Council for the Laity, Alberto Castelli , and the Bishop of Lille ,Adrien-Edmond-Maurice Gand .
On August 3, 1973 he was appointed Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Egypt . He resigned from this office in 1984.
