history

About 1 km south of the village are the ruins of ancient Hysiai . In 1583 during the first Ottoman period Achladokambos had 77 inhabitants. The 1700 Venetian census recorded 21 families. William Martin Leake visited the village in 1805 and reported that it was inhabited by about 80 families and that it belonged to the Vilâyet of Agios Petros .

During the Greek Revolution , Achladokambos served mainly as a supply station for freedom fighters. In 1821 Staikos Staikopoulos came here with 200 men to prevent the sending of Ottoman reinforcements from Tripoli for the besieged Nafplio . In July 1822, high-ranking freedom fighters - including Theodoros Kolokotronis and Petrobey Mavromichalis - met in Achladokambos. At the end of 1826 the fighters of Hatzimichalis Dalianis and Panayotis Notaras stopped an Egyptian army here. 1832–1833 a cavalry army was stationed here under the leadership of Dimitrios Kallergis .

In late 1890, many residents of Achladokambos emigrated to the United States . In 1905 they founded the Brotherhood of Achladokambiton Chicago there to keep in touch with each other and with their hometown.
