Eight. is a German rock band from Munich , whose lead singer is Gil Ofarim (son of the Israeli singer Abi Ofarim ). The band name is derived, among other things, from the identical house numbers of the former location of the record label Neuzeitstürmer and the residences of several band members.
history
Eight. was founded at the end of 2008 by Gil Ofarim ( vocals / guitar ) and Oswin Ottl (guitar / songwriting ).
Gil Ofarim has been a musician for over 20 years and has already sold over five million records worldwide. He is an actor , musical actor and voice actor and also works as a model and testimonial . In the past he had already taken guitar lessons from Oswin Ottl. Both were already writing songs together at this point. When Ottl Ofarim - who had only sung in English for years - asked to sing a song in German, Ofarim agreed; he only wanted to present the song on stage with Ottl. So after a while the band was founded.
Drummer Andy Lind was also active as a drummer for the Munich crossover band Freaky Fukin Weirdoz .
In 2010 Ofarim founded his own label with Neuzeitstürmer in order to bring out his self-written songs exactly as he had composed them, thus demonstrating his talent as a songwriter and composer . The debut album of Acht., Stell Dir Vor , was produced by Corni Bartels in the Weltraumstudios in Munich and published in 2010 by Neuzeitstürmer.
In 2011 there were eight. on tour with US singer Alex Band ( The Calling ).
At the moment lead singer Gil Ofarim is back as a solo artist.
