Acubens (also written Akubens ) is the proper name of the star α (alpha) Cancri in the constellation Cancer .
Acubens belongs to the spectral class A3 and has an apparent brightness of +4.3 m , making it the fourth brightest star in the constellation Cancer. It is about 160 light-years from the sun away.
As a star near the ecliptic, Acubens can be covered by the moon and planets .
