Cityscape and economy
Ad-Damazin is a sprawling city that was rebuilt in the 1960s with the construction of the Roseires Dam, and has been jointly managed by the NCP of the government in Khartoum and the South Sudanese SPLM since the end of the civil war in 2005 .
The 16-kilometer Roseires Dam in the north-east of ad-Damazin made extensive irrigation possible, which increased the region's agricultural potential. As a result, mills for grain and oil seeds and a sugar refinery were built in the city.
Infrastructure
There is an airport and an asphalt road via Sennar to Khartoum . The railway line to Sennar, which was built for the construction of the dam, is no longer in operation.
