Adalbert Kälin

Adalbert Kälin (born February 27, 1934 - † February 22, 2019 ) was a Swiss teacher , author and organizer .

Life

Kälin worked as a teacher, became a school inspector and then head of the elementary school office of the canton of Schwyz . For 16 years he was a member of the Cantonal Council of Schwyz as a CVP representative .

Kälin was known as the organizer of Swiss federal celebrations . As the person responsible for the 650th anniversary of the Battle of Morgarten in 1965, he understood "masterfully ... to put the occasion in the appropriate framework of celebration and historical awareness". From 1988 to 1992, Adalbert Kälin was the delegate of the canton of Schwyz for the 700th anniversary of the Swiss Confederation and “played a key role in the 1991 commemoration on the Rütli ”. In his writings, he dealt with tourism on the Rigi and with the memories of his father, who experienced Queen Astrid's fatal accident as a police officer in Küssnacht in 1935 .
