Tibor Boromisza (born July 18, 1840 in Kalocsa , ( Kingdom of Hungary ), † July 9, 1928 Satu Mare ( Romania )) was the Roman Catholic Bishop of Satu Mare .

Life

On June 3, 1906, the Emperor of Austria and Apostolic King of Hungary Franz Joseph I appointed him Bishop of Satu Mare ( German Sathmar ). The appointment was confirmed by Pope Pius X ; it was consecrated on September 20 of the same year by Cardinal József Samassa the Archbishop of Gran .

He had churches built, schools built, organized the parishes and established foundations. He led the diocese through the First World War and saw the division of his diocese between Romania , Czechoslovakia and Hungary in 1920 after the Trianon Peace Treaty . From the past 44 parishes, 80 priests and 75,000 believers, 14 parishes, 16 priests and 13,000 believers remained.

He died on July 9, 1928 and was buried in the crypt of the Ascension Cathedral of Satu Mare.

After his death on June 5, 1930, the Romanian part of the diocese of Sathmar was united with the diocese of Oradea Mare .
