Adam gases (* 29. March 1978 in Ypsilanti , Michigan ) is an American American football trainer. He was the head coach of the Miami Dolphins in the National Football League (NFL) until the end of the 2018 regular season and is currently the chief coach of the New York Jets .

Coaching career

Adam Gase embarked on a career as a coach at a young age. While enrolled at Michigan State University , he served as the student assistant to football coach Nick Saban , whom he followed to Louisiana State University in 2000 . Until 2002 he held the position of Recruiting Assistant there. This was followed by his first engagement in the NFL as a scouting assistant , as an offensive assistant and as a trainer of the quarterbacks with the Detroit Lions (until 2007). In the 2008 season he was then offensive assistant with the San Francisco 49ers . He then moved to the Denver Broncos , where he was initially responsible for the wide receivers and quarterbacks, before he was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2013. During his six years in Denver , the team took first place in the AFC West four times .

In the 2015 season , Gase held the position of offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears . In January 2016 he was presented as the new head coach by the Miami Dolphins from the AFC East . In the preseason the Dolphins had separated from Joe Philbin , whose assistant Dan Campbell was then responsible for the rest of the games. Gase is the twelfth coach in the history of the Miami Dolphins and the youngest to hold the position. In the 2016 regular season , the Dolphins made their first play-offs in eight years, but were eliminated in the first round by the Pittsburgh Steelers . In the following two seasons, however, Gase was unable to build on this success. After the Dolphins ended the season with more losses than wins twice in a row, he was sacked on December 31, 2018.

On January 11, 2019, the New York Jets announced Gase as their new head coach . In his first season he was able to lead the Jets after 7 losses from the first 8 games to 6 wins in the remaining 8 games. They finished the season third in the AFC East, ahead of his former team, the Miami Dolphins.
