Adam Wade Gontier (born May 25, 1978 in Peterborough , Ontario ) was the lead singer , rhythm guitarist and main songwriter of the Canadian rock band Three Days Grace until early 2013 . Gontier has been the frontman of the band Saint Asonia since 2015 .

Life

He got his interest in music from his parents, who listened to all kinds of music. It was his mother who taught him to perform live. His band mates Neil Sanderson, Brad Walst and Barry Stock come, like him, from Norwood, Canada . On the sixth Apocalyptica album Worlds Collide he is guest singer on the song I Don't Care . In 2004, Adam married his childhood sweetheart Naomi from high school in Ontario. In 2005 Gontier visited a rehab clinic in Toronto, where some songs were written for the album One-X , including Animal I Have Become , Pain , Gone Forever , Riot and Over and Over and Get Out Alive . The withdrawal helped him get away from his addiction. Naomi and Adam have been separated since 2013. Adam married Jeanie Marie, who also starred in the Better Place music video . On December 21, 2012, Adam left the band Three Days Grace for personal reasons. From then on he worked on a career as a solo artist. Gontier later formed the band Saint Asonia with Mike Mushock , Corey Lowery and Rich Beddoe. It made its first official appearance on May 16, 2015 at the Rock on the Range Festival in Columbus , Ohio . The first single by the new band Better Place was also released on May 16. The album Saint Asonia was released on July 31, 2015 and comprises eleven songs + two bonus tracks in the European edition.

Three Days Grace 1997-2013

Adam Gontier founded the band Three Days Grace in 1997 with Neil Sanderson and Brad Walst. After six years, the first album Three Days Grace was released and comprises twelve songs. They came with the album at number 69 on the Billboard 200. The next album One-X was released in 2006 with the new band member Barry Stock. Songs like Animal I Have Become , Pain , Gone Forever , Riot , Over and Over and Get Out Alive were written by Gontier when he was attending a drug rehab clinic. The album came in at number 5 on the Billboard 200 and was the best-selling album at the time with 78,000 copies sold. In 2016, One-X was named a platinum album with 3 million sales. Life Starts Now came out in 2009 and was the band's third studio album. The album debuted at number 3 on the Billboard 200, and went platinum in Canada and gold in the US. The single "Break" reached number 1 on the US Billboard Rock Songs Charts and the US Billboard Mainstream Rock Charts. In 2012 Three Days Grace released their last studio album with frontman Adam Gontier. The Chalk Outline music video was Gontier's last on Three Days Grace.
