Adam Niewood
Adam Niewood (born April 14, 1977 ) is an American jazz musician ( saxophone , clarinet , bass clarinet , composition ) who is also a manufacturer of mouthpieces for woodwind instruments.

Niewood grew up in Glen Ridge, New Jersey ; his father is the jazz musician Gerry Niewood . He first learned the clarinet in school before switching to alto saxophone and tenor in high school. In a school big band he had the opportunity to play with guest musicians such as Lew Soloff , Don Menza and Steve Gadd . From 1995 he studied at Berklee College of Music , before moving to New York's William Paterson University in 1997 , where he earned a Bachelor of Music Performance. On the recommendation of his teacher David Demsey, he worked as a music teacher for saxophone, jazz history and ensemble playing at Montclair State University from 2000–03, and in 2001 also in the jazz program of the Juilliard School of Music . He then continued his studies at the Manhattan School of Music , where he completed his Masters in Jazz Performance in 2005 and the Artist Diploma from the Juilliard School in 2009 .
The first recordings were made in 2002 when he was a guest musician on his father Gerry Niewood's album Facets . In 2004 he recorded his debut album Introducing Adam Niewood , on which Gerry Niewood, Eric Lewis , Matt Brewer and Ben Perowsky participated. In 2008 he recorded the double album Epic Journey Vols with an expanded line-up . 1 & 2 on (Innova Recordings). In 2010 he worked with Bill Goodwin ( Raise Four ); in the same year he recorded the album Homage (Vectordisc) with John Scofield , John Patitucci and Jack DeJohnette . In the field of jazz he was involved in seven recording sessions between 2002 and 2010.
