Adam Delimkhanov ( Russian Адам Султанович Делимханов * 25. September 1969 in Benoi, Rajon Noschai-Yurt , Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic ) is a Chechen politician who since 2007 Member of the Russian State Duma for the party , United Russia is.

Life

Delimkhanov graduated from the Chechen-Ingush State University in 1994 (today's Chechen State University ). According to the independent newspaper Novaya Gazeta , he was the personal driver of Salman Raduyev , a Chechen rebel leader, in the 1990s . While Delimkhanov's involvement in the First Chechen War (1994–1996) is unknown, he served as one of the leaders of Akhmat Kadyrov's bodyguard in the Second Chechen War (1999–2000) .

As a close associate and cousin of the Moscow-friendly Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov , Delimkhanov headed the police unit that secures the Chechen oil production facilities from 2003 to 2006 . In 2004 he graduated from the Institute of Finance and Law in Makhachgala with a law degree .

The Chechen exile Umar Israilov , murdered in January 2009, accused Delimkhanov of beating him in the presence of Kadyrov; Delimkhanov declined to comment on the allegations. In April 2009, Dubai police accused Delimkhanov of ordering the assassination of the Chechen warlord and Russian military leader Sulim Yamadayev in the emirate. Delimkhanov is said to have provided the murder weapon, a gold-plated pistol that lay next to the dead man's body. The latter denied the allegations and claimed that this was a provocation in order to destabilize Chechnya; he will also prepare a libel suit against the Dubai police. Kadyrov accused the Arab police of lying. Since April 2009, in connection with the murder of Sulim Jamadajew, searches have been carried out from Dubai via Interpol for Delimkhanov and six other Russian citizens.
