Lehnsgraf Adam Wilhelm Knuth-Knuthenborg , even Adam Vilhelm Knuth til Grevskabet Knuthenborg (* 5. September 1854 on Knuthenborg ; † 22. October 1888 on Højstrup ) was a Danish Chamberlain and Hofjägermeister .

Life

Knuth was born in 1854 as the sixth of six children in the Mecklenburg-Danish count family Knuth . His father was the first Danish foreign minister, Frederik Marcus Knuth , and his mother Karen was born Rothe. When his older brother Eggert Christopher died childless, he took over the feudal county Knuthenborg.

After Knuth died one year after his wife, his only six-year-old son Eggert became head of the family.

Marriage and offspring

On December 2, 1879, Knuth was married to Baroness Margarethe Christine Lucie Rosenørn-Lehn auf Hvidkilde (1859–1887), daughter of Baron Erik Christian Hartvig Rosenørn-Lehns and Polyxene Adelheid Louise Elise Pechlin von Löwenbach. Margarethe died on December 30, 1887 after her six-year-old son Frederik Marcus had died the day before.

There were four children from marriage:

  • Ida Margrethe Knuth-Knuthenborg (born September 27, 1880 in Bandholmsgaard; † January 24, 1944) ⚭ Count Werner Ernst Carl Schimmelmann (1865–1941)
  • Eggert Christoffer Knuth -Knuthenborg (born February 27, 1882 in Bandholmsgaard; † March 19, 1920)
  • Erik Christian Hartvig Knuth-Knuthenborg (born December 13, 1885 in Bandholmsgaard; † February 15, 1905 in Berlin)
  • Frederik Marcus Knuth-Knuthenborg (* December 23, 1887 in Knuthenborg, † December 29, 1887 in Knuthenborg)

All sons were born with the title Graf ("greve"), the daughter bore the title Countess ("Komtesse").
