Liege Count Eggert Christoffer Knuth-Knuthenborg (born February 27, 1882 in Knuthenborg , † March 19, 1920 in Algiers ) was a Danish landlord and liege count of Knuthenborg.

Knuth was born in Knuthenborg in 1882 as the second of four children into the Mecklenburg-Danish count family Knuth . His mother Margarethe died in 1887 a few days after the birth of their fourth child. A year later, Knuth's father Adam Wilhelm died and Eggert became liege-count of Knuthenborg at the age of six. Knuth was later the patron of the Lolland-Falsters-Stiftsmuseum and chairman of the Landbostandens Sparekasse in Maribo .

Marriages and offspring

On July 6, 1903, Knuth was married to Sylvia Pio, daughter of Louis Pios , whom he had met in 1902 at a ball in Florida . Even then, his wife was an important social democratic figure in Denmark. The marriage was then considered spectacular and only lasted for a short time. On December 30, 1912, the two were divorced.

The marriage had two children:

  • Frederik Marcus Knuth (1904–1970)
  • Eva Knuth (1911–1959) ⚭ Juan Antonio Abad Sedillo, Colonel (1902–?), ⚭ Count Erik Otto Sigismund Ahlefeldt-Laurvig (1880–1967), ⚭ Herbert Oscar Begtrup Møller, banker (1901-?)

In 1917 Knuth married Anne Margrethe Wennerwald (1894–1976), daughter of the painter Emil Wennerwald , in Østofte Kirke . The marriage remained childless.
