Lehnsgraf Frederik Marcus Knuth-Knuthenborg (born May 5, 1904 on Knuthenborg; † June 14, 1970 ) was a Danish taxonomist of biology and, by birth, Lehnsgrave of Knuthenborg . He was one of the leading politicians in the DNSAP .

Life

Knuth was born in 1904 as the son of the landlord Eggert Christoffer Knuth and the social democratic politician Sylvia Pio in the Mecklenburg-Danish noble house Knuth . The marriage ended in divorce eight years after Frederik Marcus was born. He graduated from the Katedralskole in Roskilde and studied cooperative agriculture in the Soviet Union . In 1925 he took over Knuthenborg County, which was dissolved the following year. Knuth was Protector of the Lolland-Falsters-Stiftsmuseum .

Knuth joined the DNSAP on April 22, 1934, and his wife followed a year later on April 8. He became a labor leader ("sysselleder") of the party on Lolland, but resigned in 1941. The Danish police tapped his phone at the beginning of the occupation and Knuth was jailed for his activities after the war.

In 1969 Knuthenborg was turned into a safari park by Knuth's son Adam Wilhelm Josef, contrary to his father's wishes .

Taxonomy

As a private scholar, Knuth dealt with the systematics of cacti . Its botanical author abbreviation is " FMKnuth ". In the Cactus ABC , which was written together with Curt Backeberg and published in 1936 , he placed numerous species of cacti in other genera ; Among other things, he raised the previous subgenus Cylindropuntia to the genus, which means that he appears as a combination author for all of the Cylindropuntia species already described at the time .

Marriage and offspring

On June 5, 1925 Knuth Christa Theodora Marie Nanna Lund, daughter of C.Th. Lund and Theodora Lund, (1900–1971) in the Copenhagen Ordrup Kirke . With her he fathered three children:
