Frederik Knuth

Liege Count Frederik Knuth-Knuthenborg (born September 15, 1760 in Copenhagen , † October 10, 1818 in Knuthenborg ) was a Danish landowner and chamberlain .

Life

Knuth was the second son of Eggert Christopher Knuth and Marie F. Knuth, née Numsen. His family was the important noble family Knuth . Frederik Knuth became second lieutenant in the navy in 1776 , and prime lieutenant in 1785 . From 1778 to 1782 he served in French in the West Indies . In 1784 he became a chamberlain. He was dismissed as an officer three years later.

When his eldest brother Johan Heinrich Knuth died in 1802 , he assumed the title of baron and count as well as the possession of Knuthenborg and Lerchenfeld . In 1792 he became chamberlain, 1803 knight of the Dannebrogorden , in 1811 secret conference councilor.

His grandsons Frederik Marcus Knuth and Frederik Moltke became Danish Foreign Ministers, who was the first to hold this office.

Marriage and offspring

On April 2, 1784 Knuth married Juliane Marie von Møsting (1754-1821) in the Copenhagen Christiansborg Slotskirke . There were eight children from the marriage:

  • Frederik Christian Julius (July 12, 1787 - October 30, 1852)
  • Henrik Sigismund (December 11, 1788 - 1802)
  • Ludvig Frederik (* 1790; † 1791)
  • Marie Elisabeth (January 2, 1791 - March 13, 1851), ⚭ Adam Wilhelm Moltke
  • Ludvig Carl (* 1793; † 1794)
  • Charlotte Frederikke (October 29, 1794 - April 9, 1839)
  • Frederikke Louise (January 2, 1797 - March 16, 1819), ⚭ Adam Wilhelm Moltke
