Eggert Christopher Knuth (1722–1776)
Lehnsgraf Eggert Christopher Knuth-Knuthenborg (also Eggert Christoffer , born October 20, 1722 in Knuthenborg , † February 26, 1776 in Copenhagen ) was a Danish privy councilor , chamberlain and canon of Zealand .
Life
Knuth came from the Mecklenburg nobility family Knuth and was born in 1722 as the son of Adam Christoph von Knuths . He had the two younger brothers Christian Friderich Knuth and Conrad Detlev Knuth . In 1738 he became chamberlain and captain and in 1743 he was employed by the royal bodyguard . In 1749 he became adjutant general to the king, but in 1751 he resigned as a colonel from the army. He then became assessor at Højesteret and in 1759 a privy councilor.
In 1754 Knuth became a knight of the Dannebrogden . In 1774 he received the Elephant Order . He was also the holder of the Ordre de l'union parfaite .
Marriages and offspring
On February 5, 1742 he married Marguerithe Maurice Francoise Isidore Isidore Marquise Casado de Monteleone in the Hunseby Kirke , who died on May 7, 1752. The marriage had three children:
- Christiane Sophie Frederikke Knuth (* 1743 in Copenhagen, † 1790 in Hamburg)
- Charlotte Louise Knuth (1745–1812) ⚭ Count Carl von Görtz (1733–1797)
- Johan Heinrich Knuth (1746–1802)
Knuth married Marie Numsen on October 20, 1752. She died on May 4, 1765. The marriage had two children:
- Frederikke Juliane Marie Knuth (born February 25, 1755 - † April 27, 1804 in Holbæk) ⚭ Baron Michael Herman Løvenskiold (1751–1807)
- Frederik Knuth (1760-1818)
On September 9, 1765 Knuth married the Countess Eleonore Louise Caroline Moltke in Christiansborg Slotskirke . The marriage remained childless.
Knuth is buried in the Hunseby Kirke. All of his children were born counts or countess.
