Adama Dramé (born June 7, 1954 in Nouna , Burkina Faso ) is a Burkinabe percussionist .

Dramé comes from a family of musicians and storytellers who are considered guardians of the Malinke tradition. From the age of twelve he followed his father and worked as a professional griot .

Since 1979 he has been spreading his knowledge of African music in America and especially Europe. His playing is documented on numerous albums. He managed to establish the Djembé as a solo instrument. Furthermore, there was collaboration with musicians of jazz and world music , but also new music such as Marc Vella, Chris Joris , Reto Weber , Trevor Watts , André Ceccarelli , Bernard Lubat , the ballet troupe Black Blanc Beur or Les Percussions de Strasbourg . In 1990 he founded the percussion and dance ensemble Foliba in Bouaké , for which he also composes. His life was documented in the film A Griot's Story by Adam Różański (2007).
