The Adamekhütte is an alpine club hut of the Alpenverein Austria section of the ÖAV at an altitude of 2196  m , below the Gosau glacier, at the foot of the Hohe Dachstein . It is located in the Dachstein Mountains in Upper Austria , high above the Gosau valley in the Hallstatt-Dachstein / Salzkammergut UNESCO World Heritage region . Due to the high altitude, the Adamekhütte is not a destination for day hikers, but rather an important base for mountaineers who can undertake larger mountain, glacier and climbing tours on the Dachstein from here.

history

The hut, built in 1908 by the Austria Section, was named after the President of the Regional Court and Chairman of the Alpine Club, Karl Ritter von Adamek . Previously there was probably only a poor shelter, the coarse rock hut , the remains of which can still be seen on the Hüttenweg at 1,638 meters. The Adamekhütte has been expanded and renovated several times, and its unique location offers a great view of the Gosau lakes and a distant view of the Hohe Tauern and the Bischofsmütze .
