history
In 1901 a small refuge was built on the Hofpürgl at the foot of the Bischofsmütze by the Linz section of the OeAV and inaugurated on August 10, 1902. The tenants changed several times, mostly mountain guides from the region; In 1934 there was a direct water supply using a pumping system. From 1967 Alfred and Kathi Steiner from Filzmoos leased the hut, and although their husband died after two years, Kathi Steiner managed the Hofpürglhütte for 38 years. During this time a material ropeway was built and in 1981 a major renovation and expansion including power connection and the construction of a biological sewage treatment plant took place. The hut was last extensively renovated and modernized in 2001.
