The Adcock River is a river in the north of the Australian state of Western Australia . It is in the Kimberley region .

geography

The river has its source at Qodesh in the Philips Range and then flows southeast along the King Leopold Ranges through the settlements of Mount House and Kimberley , past Mount Clifton and Mount Hamilton . Below Fitzroy Bluff and above Dimond Gorge , the Adcock River flows into the Fitzroy River .

Tributaries with mouth heights

Frank Hann was the first European to discover the river in 1898 and named it after the brothers Charles and William Adcock from Derby . Hann explained: "Messrs. Adcock Bros from Derby were very friendly to me and were extremely generous in the important question of the supply of food rations."

Fish stocks

Fish species such as tiger fish (Teraponidae), gobies (Gobiidae) and sleeper gobies (Eleotridae) can be found in the river system.
