history

The Adelaide Strikers were founded in 2011 with the introduction of the Big Bash League . On April 6, 2011, they were presented along with the other teams in the league and assigned the color blue . As a stadium they were assigned the Adelaide Oval and thus the stadium of the team from South Australia . As captain was Michael Klinger appointed. The game initially consisted mainly of players from South Australia. In the first season , the team was eliminated early in the preliminary round, reaching sixth place with two wins from seven games.

For the new season Adelaide signed the South Africans Johan Botha and Kieron Pollard , with Botha acting as captain. The Pakistani Saeed Ajmal was also obliged to reinforce, but there were initially disagreements with the Pakistani association. However, unlike other teams that had similar problems with the Pakistani federation, these could be resolved. In the season you could take fifth place with four wins, but missed the semifinals.

In the 2013-14 season , Adelaide won only two games and was penultimate.

The 2014/15 season was the most successful season for the Strikers to date. A total of six wins could be secured and was first in the table. In the semifinals they met the Sydney Sixers , but lost there with 87 runs and eliminated.

The 2015/16 season was again very successful for Adelaide. They won again the preliminary round with seven wins and played in the semifinals against the Sydney Thunder . However, this game was lost with eight wickets and so they were eliminated again before the final.
