Big Bash League 2011/12

The 2011/12 Big Bash League was the first season of this Australian Twenty20 Championship. For the first time, the newly founded franchises took part in the tournament and not the traditional first-class teams as before in the Twenty20 Big Bash . The winners were the Sydney Sixers , who beat the Perth Scorchers in the final at the WACA Ground with 7 wickets .

The eight franchises played in a group against each other team once. The first four of this group qualified for the playoffs, in which the winner was determined in the semifinals and finals. The two finalists qualified for the 2012 Champions League Twenty20 .
