The WACA Ground was chosen as the home stadium. As captain was Marcus North appointed. As overseas players they signed the Englishman Paul Collingwood and the South African Herschelle Gibbs . In the first season , the team managed to win the preliminary round with five wins and two losses. In the semifinals they met the Melbourne Stars , against whom they won with 11 runs. In the final, Perth played against the Sydney Sixers but lost with seven wickets. When they reached the finals, they qualified for the Champions League Twenty20 2012 , but they were eliminated in the preliminary round.

Pat Cummins and Albie Morkel , among others, were signed for the new season . The 2012/13 season was similar to the previous one. First they qualified for the semi-finals with second place in the preliminary round. There, in a rain-influenced game, the Melbourne Stars were again beaten with 8 wickets ( D / L ). In the final you failed this time against the Brisbane Heat with 34 runs. In the following Champions League you failed again in the preliminary round.

The Pakistani Yasir Arafat was signed for the 2013/14 season . In the preliminary round, with a third place, the worst position so far was achieved, but it was enough for the semi-finals. There the Sydney Sixers were beaten with 5 runs (D / L), especially 112 runs by Craig Simmons . In the final, the team faced the Hobart Hurricanes . Thanks to the two Marsh brothers ( Mitchell and Shaun ) who scored the decisive runs, Perth won the game with 39 runs, their first title. In the following Champions League you also failed in the third participation in the preliminary round.

The next season was one of the preliminary round, which ended with five wins and three losses, with a second place. In the semifinals, Perth met the Melbourne Stars and prevailed with 18 runs. The final, against the Sydney Sixers, was won with four wickets and so the title was successfully defended.

The 2015/16 season ended with a third place and another five wins and three losses. In the semifinals they met the Melbourne Stars and lost with seven wickets. It was the first season in which it was not enough for the final.
