The Hobart Hurricanes are an Australian cricket team that plays in the Big Bash League . The home stadium is the Bellerive Oval in Hobart . So far, the team has not yet won the Big Bash League.

history

The Hobart Hurricanes were founded in 2011 with the introduction of the Big Bash League . On April 6, 2011, they were presented along with the other teams in the league and assigned the color purple . The Bellerive Oval was chosen as the home stadium. As captain was Tim Paine appointed. They signed the Pakistani Rana Naved-ul-Hasan and the English Owais Shah as overseas players . In the first season they managed to reach second place in the preliminary round with five wins and two defeats. They qualified for the semi-finals and met the Sydney Sixers there , but lost with seven runs.

For the new season, among others, George Bailey and Scott Styris were committed. In the new season itself, with four wins and four defeats, they lagged behind the previous year's performance and finished sixth in the preliminary round.

For the 2013/14 season , Shoaib Malik , among others , was committed. The most successful player was the batsman Ben Dunk , who was awarded the most successful player of the season. During the season, the qualification for the semi-finals was just about possible and won against the Melbourne Stars with 7 wickets. In the final, Hobart met the Perth Scorchers , but lost with 39 runs.

For the 2014/15 season , the West Indian Darren Sammy was committed. Hobart was also fined for signing contracts with players during the embargo period. In the season, the Hurricanes scored three wins and five defeats and placed fifth in the preliminary round.

The 2015/16 season was again unsuccessful. With another three wins and five defeats they came second to last this time.
