history

The Brisbane Heat was founded in 2011 with the introduction of the Big Bash League . On April 6, 2011, they were presented together with the other teams in the league and assigned the color turquoise . The Brisbane Cricket Ground was assigned to them as a stadium. As captain was James Hopes appointed. The New Zealanders Daniel Vettori and Brendon McCullum were signed as international games and Matthew Hayden , who had actually already resigned, caused a stir.

Numerous new signings were made for the new season . Shane Watson came from the Sydney Sixers and the West Indian Kemar Roach , the South African Dale Steyn and the Australian Mitchell Johnson were also committed. During the season, team coach Darren Lehmann was banned for two years because he publicly questioned the legitimacy of the technique of West Indian bowler Marlon Samuels, who played for the Melbourne Renegades . In the preliminary round, Luke Pomersbach played a decisive role in ensuring that the team qualified fourth for the semi-finals. There they met the Melbourne Renegades, who they could beat with 15 runs and again it was Pomersbach who secured the qualification for the next round with a Century. In the final against the Perth Scorchers , the team was able to prevail with 34 runs and thus claim the title. It was Kemar Roach who made the decisive breakthroughs with his three wickets.

Stuart Law , whose first appearance was the Champions League Twenty20 in 2013, was signed as the new coach . There, however, they were eliminated as the bottom of the group in the preliminary round. The success of the previous year could not be repeated in the domestic league either. In the preliminary round of the 2013-14 season , Brisbane won only three games and finished fifth.

The club was fined for signing contracts with players during the embargo period. The Englishman Andrew Flintoff was signed for the 2014/15 season . however, one could not prevail this season. Ultimately, they finished last, with only two wins achieved during the preliminary round.

Daniel Vettori, who resigned as an active player, was appointed as the new coach. The team's new oversea player for the 2015/16 season was West Indian Lendl Simmons . In the preliminary round they failed again with three wins and sixth place.
