Adelbert Muhr

Adelbert Muhr , pseudonym : Amur , (born November 9, 1896 in Vienna ; † March 10, 1977 ibid) was an Austrian writer , journalist and translator .

Adelbert Muhr studied literature and psychology at the University of Vienna from 1914 to 1917 . From 1918 to 1930 he was a civil servant with the Danube Shipping Company . He then worked as a journalist for the “ Neue Wiener Tagblatt ” and, from 1945 to 1967, for the daily newspaper “ Neues Österreich ”. He was also a permanent employee of the " Arbeiter-Zeitung ". In 1964 he was given the professional title of professor . In addition to the focus on travel , Muhr was interested in the subject of railways , which he documented with the monograph The fiery Elias - Europe's small railways   .

Adelbert Muhr had suffered two strokes before his death. His honorary grave is in group 40 ( Ehrenhain ) of the Vienna Central Cemetery
