Adelheid Salles-Wagner

Adelheid Salles-Wagner (* 1825 in Dresden ; † July 2, 1890 in Paris ) was a Franco-German portrait painter and history painter .

Life

Adelheid Salles-Wagner was born in Dresden and trained at the academy there. Her sister was the painter Elise Wagner (1828–1895). who married Alexandre Puyroche (1828–1916) and became known under the name Elise Wagner-Puyroche. She was a granddaughter of the builder Gottlob Friedrich Thormeyer . From 1866 Adelheid Wager became a student of Claude Jacquand and Léon Cogniet in Paris . She married the painter Jules Salles-Warner (1814–1898) in Nimes . Adelheid painted oil paintings and pastels . A letter from her to an unknown recipient is kept in the Bavarian State Library in Munich. She died in Paris on July 2, 1890.
