The Adler I is a canal ferry in Kiel-Holtenau operated by Adler-Schiff GmbH & Co. KG. The small passenger ferry has been in use for the shipping company since 1984 .

history

On June 22, 1984, the Adler I was delivered to the Insel- und Halligreederei Kurt Paulsen (Adler ships), chartered to the WSA-Kiel and used as a passenger ferry between Kiel-Holtenau ( Lage ) and Kiel-Wik ( Lage ). In the summer of 1989, the small ferry temporarily replaced the Rendsburg suspension ferry . In March 2002 the ship was converted into a one-man crew ship at the Gebr. Friedrich shipyard in Kiel. During the renovation, the Adler III replaced the Adler I on the ferry line. When the pier in Kiel-Wik was completely destroyed by a large fire in June 2009, the Adler I went into the shipyard. After a three-week break, the ferry came back.
