Adolf Calmberg

Adolf Calmberg (born April 11, 1837 in Lauterbach , † May 19, 1887 in Küsnacht ) was a German teacher and poet .

Life

Born as the son of a judicial officer, Calmberg attended the community / elementary school in Lauterbach and the private institute of Pastor Wilhelm Trautwein. This was followed by an apprenticeship as a pharmacist and attending grammar school in Büdingen . In 1856 he went to Gießen , Berlin and Leipzig to study natural sciences and philology . During his studies he became a member of the Germania Gießen fraternity in 1857 , the Brandenburgia Berlin fraternity in 1860 and the Germania fraternity in Leipzig in 1862 . With Karl Weigand in Giessen he was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD . In 1859 he passed his faculty examination and became a teacher at the Grand Ducal Gymnasium in Giessen. In 1860 he became an assessor . In 1877 he went to the cantonal teacher training college in Küsnacht as a teacher of German and German literature . In 1896 he headed a private institute in Schlitz, Hesse, and eventually became a teacher of German language, literature and history . He worked as a dramatist and lecturer . Calmberg was didactic advisor to Conrad Ferdinand Meyer .
