Adolf Klinkenberg

Adolf Klinkenberg (born June 14, 1881 in Herdecke ; † May 9, 1957 ) was a German ironworker and manager of the German steel industry.

Life

Adolf Klinkenberg studied metallurgy at RWTH Aachen . In 1899 he became a member of the Academic Association of Chemists, Miners and Metalworkers , which later became Corps Montania. After completing his studies, he joined the Gelsenkirchener Bergwerks-AG . He became a board member of GBAG and board member of the German-Luxemburgish mining and smelting company . In 1927, with the formation of Vereinigte Stahlwerke AG, he was appointed to the board of this company. In 1933 he was appointed CEO of Dortmund-Hörder Hüttenunion AG. In autumn 1945 he was arrested by the Allies and interned for more than a year.

Klinkenberg was a member of the committee of the Association of German Employers' Associations and a member of the board of the Metallurgy and Rolling Mill Trade Association . He was a member of the supervisory boards of Friedrich Thomé AG in Werdohl, Stahlwerke Brüninghaus AG , Deutsche Edelstahlwerke AG , Heinrich August Schulte AG and Rheinisch-Westfälische Kalkwerke AG .

The Hamburger Abendblatt paid tribute to him on May 11, 1957 in a short obituary with the sentence: "The name Klinkenberg is closely connected with the German iron and steel industry and especially with the United Steelworks AG."

Klinkenberg was a collector of book art, literary illustration and typography from the 16th to 20th centuries. On June 3, 1939, he donated the mayor's chain of office to his hometown Herdecke.
