biography

Maislinger, who came from a social democratic family, was a machine fitter by profession. He became a member of the Socialist Workers' Youth (SAJ) and the trade union. He first joined the SPD and switched from there to the KPD in 1931 . In the early 1930s he was involved in street battles with the SA . After the seizure of power by the Nazis , he worked illegally under the code name "Bertl" as a courier. Maislinger fled to Switzerland and returned to Germany in 1934 by order of the KPD, where he was arrested at the border. In 1935, Maislinger was sentenced to eight years in prison for “preparation for high treason ” . On September 8, 1942, the Gestapo issued a protective custody order and shortly afterwards he was transferred to the Dachau concentration camp . Communist Party comrades from Munich helped him to a post in the disinfection command. The relatively large freedom of movement associated with the post enabled him to work again in the camp resistance and to rescue fellow prisoners.

After the liberation of Dachau concentration camp, Maislinger was briefly a member of the first city council of Munich appointed by the American occupation authorities. In the late summer of 1946 he was briefly imprisoned by the American occupation authorities for no reason. After his release from prison he married and worked as a civil servant in Munich until his retirement. He was a member of the ÖTV and the VVN .

Maislinger was involved in the Dachau concentration camp memorial and passed on his experiences to groups of the Action Reconciliation Marks . In Munich the "Adi-Maislinger-Strasse" is named after him.
