Thomas de Keyser
Thomas de Keyser (* around 1596 in Amsterdam ; buried June 7, 1667 or died in November 1679 there) was a Dutch painter and basalt stone dealer .
The son of the sculptor Hendrick de Keyser worked as a painter in Amsterdam all his life, initially under the influence of Dirck Hals and Rembrandt van Rijn . Although little is known about his life and training, he is one of the most distinguished portrait painters of the Dutch school, along with Hals, Rembrandt and Bartholomeus van der Helst . He combines extraordinary clarity of coloring and a fine coloristic feeling with energy of perception and sharpness of the drawing. The architect Pieter de Keyser was his brother.
