from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Adolf Neubauer (born November 14, 1938 in Strokele, Reichsgau Sudetenland , today: Strakov , Okres Svitavy , Czech Republic ; † April 11, 2020 in Magdeburg ) was a German engineer and university professor .

Life

Neubauer studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Magdeburg (TH Magdeburg) . He then completed a number of practical years at the Magdeburg Armaturenwerke and at the heavy machinery construction combine "Ernst Thälmann" .

In 1967 Neubauer received his doctorate with a thesis on the investigation of torques and material flow when profiling angle profiles at the TH Magdeburg. After studying in Leningrad , he became a lecturer at the TH Magdeburg in 1970. In 1977 he completed his habilitation with a thesis on the subject of findings and problems in profiling metal strips: a contribution to the production of open profiles for economical lightweight metal construction there . From 1977 to 1992 he held a chair at the TU Magdeburg.

After the fall of the Wall in 1989 , he continued his research until 1996 in the Netherlands at the Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research (TNO). Then he worked as an authorized signatory in a Düsseldorf company. There he was responsible for product and process innovation for battery components.

After Neubauer retired, from 2003 to 2005 he devoted himself to establishing the ESA Patentverwertungsagentur Sachsen-Anhalt GmbH in Magdeburg as managing director.

Research areas

Neubauer did research in the field of metal forming. He developed processes for the explosive forming of truck axles, for the distortion-free profiling of walls for refrigerated trucks and for the production of the bumper of the Trabant .

Awards and honors

For his share in the development of explosive forming for series production in automobile construction, Neubauer was awarded the GDR National Prize, 1st class, for science and technology in 1977 . In 2004 Neubauer was honored with the Medal of Honor from the Association of German Engineers (VDI).

Offices and memberships

Neubauer was a member of the VDI and the Magdeburg mechanical engineering association. He was also involved in the Emeritio professors' group , which is dedicated to the general knowledge transfer to broad sections of the population.

family

Neubauer was married and had children and grandchildren.
