Adolf Ritter (born January 31, 1871 in Breslau , † January 16, 1924 in Berlin ) was a German craftsman and politician . Ritter was a member of the Prussian State Council for the SPD from 1921 to 1922, as well as the mayor and deputy mayor of Berlin.

Life

Ritter attended elementary school and learned the tailoring trade , a profession he pursued for a while. In 1899 he became an authorized representative of the professional organization of the tailors in Berlin and in 1905 a member of the workers' secretariat . From 1907 to 1920 Ritter was a city ​​councilor in Berlin, since 1919 as an unpaid city ​​councilor .

After joining the SPD, Ritter was elected to the SPD executive committee in Berlin in 1919 . In May 1921 Ritter became a member of the Prussian State Council for his party, a mandate that he resigned on March 8, 1922. His successor was his party colleague Bruno Borchardt . From July 14, 1921 until his death, he was also a member of the Reichsrat as authorized representative of the city of Berlin . On January 10, 1921, he was elected mayor and deputy mayor of the city of Berlin. He died in this office on January 16, 1924 at the age of 52.

Adolf Ritter was buried in the Friedrichsfelde Central Cemetery in Berlin. His preserved tombstone is on the curtain wall of the Socialist Memorial .
